Position Summary:

The Human Resources Intern is responsible for supporting the Human Resources Generalist and Human Resources Manager in the various functions of the Human Resources Department. This role primarily handles tasks relating to onboarding, benefits, compliance, and employee engagement. This position is expected to deliver exceptional customer service to our employees with a high level of expertise, courtesy, and professionalism. This position also performs a wide range of administrative duties, coordinating various tasks and providing efficient and accurate support to the team. Strong attention to detail and precise documentation, particularly in data entry, are critical to success in this role. The position requires the ability to exercise sound judgment and take initiative in addressing non-routine situations.

Primary Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Processes and maintains health, voluntary, life insurance, and legally mandated benefit information, enrollment documentation, dependent changes, and ensure legal compliance with Internal Revenue Services (IRS) cafeteria plan rules.
  • Provides general administrative support such as preparing correspondence, forms and reports, arranging meetings, processing confidential reports and documents, filing electronic and hard copy records, tracking deadlines, and taking down minutes as needed.
  • Manages sensitive and confidential matters like personnel relations, employee relations, and organizational changes, planning and protecting the security of information, data, and files.
  • Keeps employee file records up to date by handling changes in employee status in a timely manager.

Required Competencies & Qualifications:

  • Current student entering their junior or senior year in an accredited undergraduate program in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Business Management
  • Strong verbal and written communication in English
  • Ability to operate general office equipment to include PC, fax/copy machine, and telephone
  • Intermediate skill using Microsoft Programs: Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Basic knowledge of relevant laws and regulations
  • Knowledge of HR best practices and regulations
  • Excellent attention to detail
  • Good prioritization and organizational skills
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills

Preferred & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or Business Management

Physical Demands/Working Conditions:

  • Sedentary work: Exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time.
  • Requires prolonged operation of a computer workstation, including the ability to type for extended periods of time on a keyboard during the scheduled workday

Salary Range: $15.00 - $17.00 an hour

Temporary from May 19 - August 22, 2025
